“My sponsor’s gentle reminder of ‘Progress, not perfection’ encourages me to give myself credit.” How Al‑Anon Works for Families & Friends of Alcoholics (B-32), p. 340
My association with Al-Anon has been a life saver. I was sure if I could just get the alcoholics in my life to stop drinking, my relationships with them would improve and so would I. What I discovered was that what I needed was the tools and a supportive environment to make the improvements myself. It has been 11 years for me and what I have learned and the people I have befriended have changed my life.

“It’s not important for me to comment on everything I hear. It is important for me to let go and let others make decisions for themselves.” Hope For Today (B‑27), p.142
“Al‑Anon helped me to let live by teaching me about detachment and helping me to see that many of my problems stemmed from minding everyone’s business but my own.” Courage to Change (B-16), p. 234
Before Al-Anon, I was sick and tired of being bitter, angry, self-righteous, and judgemental. Over the years since my first meeting, I have followed the Al-Anon wisdom by putting the focus on myself and my own recovery with the help and guidance of a Higher Power and the fellowship. I am so grateful because I have gradually become less screwed up and more and more happy, joyous, and free.

“I will keep always in mind that today is my sole concern, and that I will make it as good a day as I can.” One Day at a Time in Al‑Anon (B-6), p. 79
I first came to you in Al-Anon at age 19 with one thought in mind: If He would straighten up, I would be OK. He Did and I Wasn’t! I thought you would fix me and I would be on my way shortly. You didn’t. Instead you provided me with a tool kit that has made it possible to navigate every situation, crisis, joy and sorrow that life has presented for sixty plus years. Thank You!
